How DryMark Restoration Fallbrook Was Born in Fallbrook

We remember the exact afternoon we decided to bring DryMark to Fallbrook. It was late 2011, and we were standing in a kitchen on Alturas Road, watching a homeowner sort through water-logged cabinets while a national chain’s crew packed up their fans three days early. The drywall read 18% moisture on our pin meter, well above the 12% dry standard, but their invoice was already printed. The homeowner, a retired teacher, asked us if she’d have mold in six months. We couldn’t lie to her. She’d already paid $4,200 for a job that wasn’t finished.

That was the moment. Fallbrook had plenty of trucks with logos, plenty of companies that could tear things out, but nobody was drying to a number and proving it. DryMark already existed, already had the Haven Standard with its daily logs and signed readings, but there was no local branch serving the avocado groves and hillside homes we knew. We called the parent company the next morning. By spring of 2012, we had our first Dri-Eaz LGR dehumidifier running on a job in De Luz. We promised something simple: the price in writing before we start, the moisture readings in your hand when we leave, and no crew that packs up until the wall says it’s dry.

Alicia Brennan’s Personal Connection to the Damage Restoration Trade

I got into this work sideways, through the smell of wet plaster and the particular sound of a pin meter clicking into sheathing that isn’t dry yet. Before DryMark, I spent years in property claims, sitting across from homeowners who couldn’t prove what they’d lost. I’d deny claims not because the damage wasn’t real, but because the documentation was garbage: one blurry photo, no moisture log, no chain of custody on the drying process. I watched good people absorb costs they shouldn’t have, while restoration companies who’d done sloppy work walked away paid in full.

The turning point was a fire job in Valley Center, 2010. I was there as an adjuster, and the restoration crew had thrown out an entire kitchen’s worth of cabinets that were salvageable with proper smoke washing. The homeowner, a single dad, lost his grandmother’s dishes because nobody took the time to inventory what could be saved. I remember the smell of the ozone machine they ran too late, the way the smoke damage had already set into the porous ceramic. He didn’t cry, but he kept opening and closing the empty cabinet doors, like the dishes might reappear.

I went home that night and couldn’t sleep. I kept thinking: someone has to be in that house who cares about the dishes, not just the invoice. Someone has to document what can be saved with the same rigor they document what must be torn out. I started following restoration crews on weekends, learning the equipment, asking why Phoenix axial air movers worked better than box fans in certain configurations, why Dri-Eaz dehumidifiers needed specific grains-per-pound readings to perform. The tradesman who trained us was a former IFA instructor, exacting and quiet. He’d hand me a moisture probe and say, “The wall doesn’t care what you hope. It only cares what it is.”

That became the work that gets me out of bed. Not the emergency calls, though those matter. It’s the moment on day three or four when the readings drop into range, when the homeowner sees the graph trending down and understands they won’t have to gut their child’s bedroom. If I weren’t doing this, I’d probably be teaching, or trying to. Something where you watch someone understand a thing they were afraid of. This work is that, but the classroom is someone’s home, and the lesson is: you can measure safety, and you can prove it.

Meet Alicia Brennan - The Person Behind Every Job

I’m Alicia Brennan, Owner and Founder of DryMark Restoration Fallbrook. I’ve been in this trade since before we opened this branch, trained in moisture mapping, thermal imaging, and the full RIA restoration protocol. What separates me from a corporate franchise technician isn’t the equipment, it’s the decision-making: I personally review every drying log before we invoice, and I still carry a pin meter in my truck because I don’t trust a report I haven’t verified myself.

Outside of work, I restore vintage furniture, badly. There’s a 1960s teak credenza in my garage that’s been half-sanded for three years. The patience required to do it right, to not rush the grain filler, reminds me daily of what we owe our customers: the discipline to not call something dry until it is. When you hire DryMark Restoration Fallbrook, you’re not getting a dispatcher’s best guess. You’re getting my name on the estimate, my review of the readings, and my direct line if something doesn’t match what we promised.

Our Promise to Fallbrook Homeowners

Our values aren’t posters on a wall. They’re policies with consequences.

Honest pricing, in writing, before we start. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: flat price, written scope, written warranty. We learned this the hard way on our third job in Fallbrook, when a scope grew by 40% because we hadn’t locked the boundaries. That never happened again, and it won’t happen to you.

Quality equipment, maintained and logged. Every Phoenix air mover and Dri-Eaz dehumidifier in our inventory is tracked by serial number, maintenance date, and performance hours. We know which unit ran on which job, because if your readings don’t trend right, we need to rule out the machine before we rule out the building.

Standing behind every job with evidence. We don’t ask you to trust us. We hand you daily moisture logs, photo documentation, and a final dry standard reading signed and dated. If an adjuster questions our invoice, we have the proof ready before they ask.

Our Credentials

Our Credentials
  • State-licensed. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. We verify annually.
  • Insured & bonded. Coverage is maintained at levels that protect your property while we’re in it, with documentation available before work begins.
  • Years of local experience. We’ve been serving Fallbrook and the surrounding communities since opening this branch, with deep familiarity in the area’s specific building types, from ranch-style homes near the Santa Margarita River to hillside construction in De Luz with its unique moisture retention challenges.
  • Strong local reputation. Our work is visible in neighborhoods across North County, and we maintain active relationships with local insurance professionals who’ve seen our documentation hold up under scrutiny.

These credentials matter because restoration work happens inside your home, often when you’re already displaced. You’re letting strangers cut open walls, run equipment overnight, handle possessions you haven’t had time to inventory. Licensing means accountability to a regulatory body. Insurance means if something goes wrong, you’re not pursuing an individual with limited resources. Our local tenure means we know which Fallbrook subdivisions built in the 1980s have the polybutylene plumbing, which hillside homes trap moisture in their crawl spaces, and which Santa Ana wind patterns can re-wet a structure that seemed dry.

Rooted in Fallbrook

We’re here Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and Sundays until 7:00 PM, because Fallbrook’s rhythm is specific: the growers’ early mornings, the afternoon heat that can accelerate mold growth in an unventilated attic, the evening calls from families who’ve just discovered a leak. We know the difference between a home on Reche Road and one in the Mission Oaks tract, between the humidity profile of the groves and the drier air up on Gird Road. We don’t sponsor little leagues or pretend to be something we’re not. We’re a local branch of a national brand, independently owned and operated, held to the Haven Standard, and we’re here when the moisture meter says you need us.
